Eye-Level Shopper Marketing for Mega Sports Campaigns | Budget-Optimized Secondary POP Displays for FMCG

Project Overview

This project highlights the strategic development and large-scale deployment of an innovative, eye-level secondary POP display system designed for a major global FMCG dairy brand during a mega sports campaign. By transitioning from traditional, heavy simulation fixtures to an engineered combination of high-grade corrugated paper and lightweight Andy boards (PVC foam boards), Fuli Display provided a highly scalable, scene-based merchandising solution. This approach successfully bridged the gap between bulk floor stock and high-impact brand emotional connection, delivering uniform retail execution and maximum long-term ROI across a nationwide store network.

Project Background

During mega global marketing seasons—such as the FIFA World Cup or major holiday rollouts—FMCG brands invest millions in sports sponsorships and high-energy top-tier media campaigns. However, a recurring friction point emerges when these multi-million-dollar campaigns hit the supermarket floor: The Bulk Stock Blind Spot. Heavy, carton-packed products or high-volume pallet stocks are traditionally stacked on floor grids below the shopper’s waistline. While this handles logistics efficiently, shoppers only see generic cardboard boxes rather than the brand's campaign excitement, completely disconnecting consumers from the marketing narrative at the critical point of purchase. To solve this, our client needed a way to transform dull floor pallets into an immersive, scene-based experience zone.

The Challenge

When creating nationwide or global retail rollouts, brand managers and procurement teams face three critical pain points in retail execution:

  • Prohibitive Unit Costs: Traditional creative agencies often propose heavy permanent simulation materials (such as wood, thick metals, or thick plastic props) to build thematic landscapes (e.g., miniature sports stadiums). These premium materials carry high price tags that restrict high-volume purchasing, forcing brands to limit displays to only a few "flagship" stores.
  • Logistics & Freight Penalties: Transporting heavy, bulky, and non-collapsible promotional structures across international or nationwide distribution networks heavily penalizes the campaign’s ROI with exorbitant shipping fees and massive warehouse storage overhead.
  • Complex In-Store Labor: Supermarket retail staff have extremely limited time. If a temporary secondary display requires complex blueprints, specialized tools, or hours of assembly, it often ends up damaged or discarded in the stockroom rather than deployed on the sales floor.

Our Solution

Fuli Display engineered a sustainable, lightweight, and budget-optimized secondary display system that perfectly balances creative storytelling with strict procurement realities. For this sports campaign, our structural team built a stunning, miniature thematic soccer stadium—complete with a golden trophy arch, stadium turf, and brand mascots—designed to sit directly on top of the high-capacity bulk stacks.

  • Strategic Material Engineering: We replaced heavy permanent props with a combination of high-grade corrugated paper and lightweight Andy boards. This clever material swap radically optimized the cost per unit, turning an expensive luxury into a highly scalable asset for mass volume rollouts.
  • Eye-Level Experience Zoning: We placed the vibrant, high-definition experience zone at eye level while keeping the heavy, high-turnover bulk stock zone at hand level. High-definition custom graphics, crisp die-cuts, and intelligent structural layering ensured a premium, high-energy aesthetic without the premium price tag.
  • Flat-Pack Optimization & Tool-Free Setup: The entire top-level campaign fixture was engineered to be flat-packed and incredibly lightweight, minimizing shipping volume. The modular structure allowed retail store staff to unpack and set up the interactive display instantly without tools, guaranteeing 100% execution consistency.

Key Features

  • Engineered Lightweight Construction: Utilizing premium corrugated paper and Andy boards (PVC foam boards) to minimize raw material expenses.
  • Eye-Level Merchandising: Engineered specifically as a pallet crown to lift brand visuals into the shopper's direct line of sight.
  • Flat-Pack & Low Freight Volume: Drastically reduces international and domestic logistics costs and storage fees.
  • Tool-Free Modular Setup: Intuitive design for rapid, seconds-fast installation by store operators, eliminating damaged or skipped setups.
  • High-Definition Custom Thematics: Premium printing and precise die-cutting to deliver immersive, high-fidelity brand storytelling for sports or seasonal events.

Outcome

By deploying Fuli Display's engineered lightweight secondary displays, the FMCG brand successfully moved beyond the bulk stock blind spot, triggering shopper emotions and driving unplanned impulse purchases right at the pallet. Procurement teams secured uniform retail execution across the entire store network, maximizing trade marketing leverage. Furthermore, retailers were highly receptive to the clean, high-vibe, and easy-to-manage display solution, granting the brand prime, high-traffic aisle positions and front-of-store real estate.
